It is literally the worst news the TV industry is dealing with right now. The two regulars on NBC's Parks and Recreation who play Ann Perkins and Chris Treager, are leaving the comedy show.
Broken last night by Buzzfeed's Kate Aurthur, the announcement left many confused, especially since there was no sign of Jones and Lowe's plans of leaving the show.
Without spoliling it for local fans of the show, which is screened on Comedy Central, the on-off couple are planning something and it was initiated by Ann. Chris was only eager to help out, as per usual.
The current season ended with them having decided to go ahead with this life changing plan.
Their last episode will be the 13th episode of the sixth season, which is currently being shot. Other cast members like Amy Poehler (Leslie Knope), Adam Scott (Ben Wyatt), Chris Pratt (Andy Dywer) and Aubrey Plaza (April Ludgate) are shooting the hour long premiere episode in London.
Jones' character, Ann Perkins, is best friends with Poehler's Leslie Knope, a friendship which started in the first season when Pratt's Andy Dwyer fell into a pit. Season's later, the friendship has grown with Ann and Leslie becoming a close confidantes to each other.
Lowe's character, Chris Traeger, arrived in Pawnee, Indiana with Ben Wyatt (Scott) to fix the administration issues the Pawnee government was facing, in the second season.
Parks and Recreation's EP, Mike Schur has confirmed the news of Lowe and Jones leaving the show. "They will be leaving the show after the 13th episode of the upcoming season six. We've been working on their story line (on and off) for four seasons now, and heading into this year, with the two of them contemplating ***SPOILER***, it felt like a natural time to move them into the next phase.
