Idols Top 9: What to expect on Sunday

The 9th season of M-Net's Idols is now on. After Tumi was eliminated from the Top 10 this week, it's now starting to get really interesting and the contestants will need to up their game to not only impress the judges, but also the viewers enough so they can get enough votes to stay in the competition. Favourites, Sonke, Brenden and Bunny keep dazzling viewers, BUT they are not guaranteed a stay in the Top 10. Neither are the other six remaining contestants, so guys, please vote.

So here's what you can expect on Sunday:

This week's theme: My idol (they perform songs from their music idols)
Mentor: RJ Benjamin and Ziyon from Liquideep

Benjamin Tainton (19) from Noordhoek in Cape Town has chosen “The Scientist”, by British idols Coldplay.

Brenden Ledwaba (19) from Graskop in Mpumalanga will be performing R&B idol Anthony Hamilton’s “Her Heart”.

Bunny Majaja (26) from Florida Glen in Johannesburg is going to be rocking a Tina Turner classic, “Proud Mary”.

Christina Williams (21) from Port Elizabeth has selected “Try”, a relatively new song from one of her idols, Pink.

Crystalene Nair (24) from Durban is honouring the original American Idol, Kelly Clarkson, interpreting her hit “Stronger”.

Innocent Mabushe (27) from Phalaborwa in Limpopo province is also interpreting a Coldplay song “Paradise”.

Musa Sukwene (26) from eMalahleni in Mpumalanga chose to represent a local hero, Ringo Madlingozi, performing his hit “Ndiyagodola”

Sonke Mazibuko (21) from Soweto, who is performing Zonke’s hit “Jikizinto”.

ZoĆ« Zana (19) from Bishop Lavis in Cape Town will be channelling a little Rihanna with “Love The Way You Lie”.

We are looking forward to Bunny's interpretation of Tina Turner's Proud Mary. That song will need her to perform for her life. It's either you go big or go home- she needs to go big!
We love that Sonke and Musa have chosen local songs. We just wish that more Idols contestants actually sang local songs!

Tune into Idols on Sunday at 5.30pm on M-Net and Mzansi Magic
