Idols SA Finale Proof that SA CAN produce great Live TV

What a show. M-Net's live broadcast of the ninth season finale of Idols was proof that South Africa can produce a great live show when it wants to.

From the impressive stage, the lighting, the pyrotechnics; the dancers, the performers, the host and the Idols contestants; it was an amazing show that not only entertained us, but showed the level and standard we can get on our local TV screens.

We rarely ever see a live show so well produced like the Idols finale and every year it gets better. Now it begs the question of why we can't do the same with our other live reality show finales and awards ceremonies.

The recent finale of So You Think You Dance was rather disappointing. There just wasn't anything that stood out, including the dancing, which is strange as this season had some talented dancers.

The SABC Crown Gospel Awards and the SA Sports Awards were also rather meh, compared to what the Idols finale served the TV viewers at home and the audience at the Moreleta Park NG Kerk.

The only time we get great production on a live performance is when DVDs are being recorded. Joyous Celebration, Lira and The Parlotones have beautiful live DVDs, which high class production.

It now begs the question- should the upcoming awards ceremonies, like the Royalty Soapie Awards, Metro FM Music Awards, South African Film and Television Awards, start making use of the same production team behind Idols? Yes, of course there are budget issues here and there, but surely it's better having people praise your live broadcast for it's great production, rather than the sloppy live TV we've  become accustomed to?

Kudo's to M-Net, Idols and the production team. It was a beautiful show and we are sure that most of the people who were watching will agree with us.

Alec Baldwin Fired by MSNBC!

How do TV networks solve a problem like Alec Baldwin? We are certain that Alec, the eldest of the notorious Baldwin brothers, whose antics in the 80s made for much tabloid fodder.

The award winning actor has been fired by MSNBC, barely two months into his new job as host of a late night TV show. Baldwin's show, Up Late, has been cancelled by the news network after news broke out about a homophobic slur he uttered to a paparazzi photographer.

The New York Post's Page Six broke the story early yesterday. MSNBC confirmed that the show had been canned because of the controversy. MSNBC and Baldwin's personal spokesperson,Matthew Hiltzik, confirmed to The Huffington Post that Baldwin's show had been cancelled.
“We are jointly confirming that Up Late will not continue on MSNBC.” MSNBC added, “This is a mutual parting and we wish Alec all the best.”

It's interesting to note that every episode of Up Late has beaten CNN and also that the show increased the MSNBC audience in the time slot. So Alec's expulsion should be great news, TV ratings wise, for the CNN crew, especially Piers Morgan.

Baldwin was quoted in an interview with Gothamist, saying: "I dispute half the comment I made... if I called him 'cocksucking maggot' or a 'cocksucking motherfucker'... 'faggot' is not the word that came out of my mouth. That I know. But you've got the fundamentalist wing of gay advocacy—Rich Ferraro and Andrew Sullivan—they're out there, they've got you. Rich Ferraro, this is probably one of his greatest triumphs. They killed my show. And I have to take some responsibility for that myself."

This comes after he was in hot water after tweeting a homophobic slur to a Daily Mail reporter, after he published an article about Baldwin's wife tweeting at James Gandolfini's funeral earlier this year.

There's still no word which show will replace Up Late.

Here's what people are tweeting about Baldwin being fired from MSNBC

Musa WINS Idols SA Season 9

It's finally happened- the winner of the ninth season of South African Idol has been announced- Musa Sukwene (26), the gentle giant from eMalahleni.
He made history tonight when he became the first contestant ever from Mpumalanga Province to win Idols SA!

The competition between Musa and runner-up 19 year old Brenden Ledwaba from Graskop, also in Mpumalanga, was neck-and-neck over the tense final week of the competition and in the end Musa won by a narrow margin of just over 1 000 votes.

"We have never experienced such a close race before on Idols SA," commented Lani Lombard, M-Net's Head of Publicity and Special Projects. "It's testament to the calibre of the contestants as well as the passion of the fans. It's fantastic to be able to provide such a phenomenal platform for untapped local singing talent."

OITNB Ladies Rock Vibe Vixen

Ehmahgerd! Don't the ladies of Netflix's Orange is the new Black look craze-mazing on the cover of Vibe Vixen? Their weird thing is, we may have been expecting this on Vanity Fair, but then, you know how they do (here, here and here).

Anyway. The ladies of the hit prison show, dressed up in couture and looked amazing for the special Vibe Vixen issue on OITNB. The article is also very revealing and the writer, Nicole Brown, did a very good job of capturing the actresses thoughts about the show, its reception and their lives.

Here are some are two of our favourite characters' questions and answers

Crazy Eyes- Uzo Aduba

Do you like getting glammed up?Absolutely, I love it. It’s so much fun. Who doesn’t like getting dressed up? I love relaxed, clean, with like a touch of funk. I always have to wear something kind of funky. Even if it’s super chic with clean lines, I love a cool hairstyle, funky piece of jewelry or really cool shoe.Crazy Eyes is already an iconic character—an introvert and extrovert at the same time. Are you the same way? I think my personality can be a bit of a blend of that. I think of myself as a centre free spirit. I love art; I love thinking, and books. I like to be spontaneous. My best friend was in Amsterdam working last year and a week before he was leaving, I found out, jumped on a plane and went there. I like to live life to the fullest and that’s what I like about Suzanne. She’s full throttle and no holds barred. She goes in.Perhaps the most memorable scene of Season One is when Suzanne defends Piper against her ex-girlfriend in the cafeteria. How much fun was it creating that moment? That’s a testament to our writers. We have incredible writers. Sian Header wrote that episode and did that continuation where Marco had written—the episode where we meet Suzanne. It makes sense that they call her Crazy Eyes because of the stuff that happens behind the eyes, but without any warning. That’s a great scene.

Sophia- Laverne Cox

How has the overnight success of Orange is the New Black changed your life?

My entire life is different. It’s been wild—people recognize me when I walk down the street, in bars and restaurants. It’s a good thing and I’m really excited. Right now I’m doing a college tour, speaking engagements, and the anti-bullying Spirits Day, which raises awareness against ending bullying against the LGBT community and different groups.
It looks like the role of Sophia was made for you.
I just auditioned! In August of 2012, I was at an event with my agent, who brought it my way. I was actually doing research on Cece McDonald, at the time. She’s a black trans-woman who’s in prison in Minnesota. I was trying to interview her for a show called In the Life, which lost its funding. Now I’m happy because I get to interview her. I think about her a lot during this journey. She was harassed walking down the street by people yelling anti-trans and racial slurs. A fight broke out and one of her tappers ended up dead, and she is in prison for it. I’m interviewing her for a documentary.
What do you think OITNB has done in terms of shedding light on the women’s prison system
It’s humanized a group of people who we are taught to think are disposable; people who don’t deserve basic human rights. In this show, we see these women are human beings with complicated stories. My hope is that the audience’s feelings for the characters on the show will translate to real women in prison.
Oh and how nice to see Vibe Vixen not have a video girl on the cover? So refreshing.

If you still haven't watched OITNB, I don't know what you're waiting for. Really.

Nicky Greenwall's Blog Musings

Nicky Greenwall
Nicky Greenwall, who has a new show on e.tv, The Big Picture (Tuesdays at 9.30pm) has started a blog where she writes about her experiences at the big premieres, film festivals and also the Academy Awards.

Most of the articles on the blog have been used by magazines, such as Glamour, before, but it still makes for interesting reading.
We loved reading the post about the 2008 Cannes Film Festival, where Charlize Theron had a major billboard; her friend team bumped into Sean Penn and having to sneak in a camera at the press conference for The Changeling, where she realised just how beautiful Angelina Jolie is. There's more funny and interesting posts and we are certain there are going to be more. Like the behind the scenes on her shows, Screentime and The Close Up. That would be awesome.

If you're a fan of Nicky and her work, you'll enjoy reading about her experience as one of SA's best entertainment TV journalists.

Here's an excerpt from the piece about the Cannes Film Festival:

DAY ONE – “Sean Penn Also Has To Pee”
Arriving in the tiny seaside village of Cannes is like traveling into a pop-up storybook. The buildings resemble oversized doll’s houses. Those that don’t actually have windows have them painted on – so it’s hard to tell what’s real and what’s not. Three stories high above the bus stop where we are dropped off hangs a twenty-five foot portrait of Charlize Theron by photographer Peggy Sirota. She towers over us like a giant. We drag our equipment to our hotel, freshen up and head to the Palais to collect our accreditation badges. There are queues of people everywhere and it’s raining so it’s hard to walk down the street without jabbing someone in the eye with my umbrella. “Guess who I bumped into in the loo?” says Robin, once we’re reunited in the accreditation area. “Sean Penn!"

Discovery Networks 2014- A List of Shows to Expect

In our previous post, we highlight what the Discovery Networks CEEMEA 2013 Upfront was all about, which Discovery execs were there and what they said.

It's now time to boggle down and see which shows we can expect on Discovery Network channels.

TLC is the weird step-sister of the Discovery channels. For all the weird, odd, gory and WTF moments in TV, you go to TLC. From cooking and baking shows, to Mob Wives, insecure brides, Oprah and Honey Boo Boo Child, TLC is the most eclectic TV channel in history.

“We had some incredible successes in 2013 on TLC Entertainment,” said Lee Hobbs, Channel Director, Emerging Business, Discovery Networks CEEMEA.  “The launch of OWN: The Oprah Winfrey Network saw us enter the top 10 channels on DStv for the first time, and we welcomed several new faces to the channel such as Honey Boo Boo, Jo Frost and the cast of Breaking Amish who have also been massive hits with our audiences. 2014 will see more from the shows our viewers know and love, plus a raft of new series which are guaranteed to have our viewers glued to their TVs!“

Shows to expect next year:
  • The Sisterhood (follows five feisty ‘first wives’ of Atlanta’s church scene who are more glamorous than demure)
  • Starter Wives Confidential (follows the fabulous world of seven celebrity ex-wives and girlfriends, including the ex of 50 Cent)
  • Best Funeral Ever (Cameras go behind the scenes of the Dallas-based Golden Gate Funeral Home who organize the most unique funerals in America, proving once again that, while you may be in a casket, it can still be fantastic!)
  • Find Me My Man (It’s all about finding love in the matchmaking reality show- basically a rip off of The Bachelor)
  • One Born Every Minute US (a reality docu-series about babies being born in the US)

The usual fair of TLC shows, like Cake Boss, Oprah's Next Chapter, Say Yes to the Dress, Here Comes Honey Boo Boo will be back.

Discovery Upfront 2013

So the folks over at Discovery and their associate channels held their upfront for 2013 last night in an exclusive (read, we weren't there) event in Sandton, Johannesburg.

Present at the presentation of Discovery Network's various channels and TV programmes were five of Discovery Networks leading men of 2014 – Ben Hanlin (Magic of Science), Dave Salmoni (Deadly Islands), Kim Wolhuter (Man, Cheetah, Wild), Joel Lambert (Manhunt) and Randy Fenoli (Say Yes to the Dress).

In a press statement released by Discovery, the network, which recently brought us the OWN channenl shows on TLC, James Gibbons, Senior Vice President of Discovery Network's Central & Eastern Europe, Middle East and Africa (CEEMEA) region, said: “We are proud to present our unparalleled 2014 programme slate to the African market. From action-packed drama in Joel Lambert’s Manhunt, to pure entertainment in Randy Fenoli’s much-loved series Say Yes to the Dress, we are offering something for all our DStv (what about StarSat, which also gets Discovery Network's programming?) viewers next year. And with ratings-winners such as Dynamo, Bear Grylls, Oprah and Honey Boo Boo all set to return in 2014, we truly have an entertaining and diverse line up of programming guaranteed to have audiences hooked.”

So here's what you can expect on the main Discovery Network Channels
  • The major announcement- Discovery Networks and Multichoice announced the launch of a new, dedicated High Definition feed of Discovery Channel, exclusively for DStv subscribers in South Africa and across Sub-Saharan Africa.
  • The new Discovery Channel will launch in the first quarter of 2014,  which means that HD Premium DStv subscribers will be able to enjoy all of their favourite Discovery programmes, including Dynamo, Auction Hunters, Bear Grylls, River Monsters, Wheeler Dealers and Gold Rush Alaska, in true HD for the first time.
  • Discovery is joining National Geographic and the History Channel in now commissioning ordinary TV series. Their first scripted dramas are Gold Fever and Klondike, two high-production blockbuster series which go back in time to re-enact the stories of the California Gold Rush.

Idols Season 9 Finale: What to Expect

So in the previous Idols post, we had a review of the total season of the performances  of the Top 2, Musa Sukwene and Brenden Ledwaba.

Now here's what they will be performing on Sunday on the first finale before the results show on Tuesday, where the winner will be crowned:

*** Press Release***

Brenden and Musa will reprise some of their Idols Season 9 “Greatest Hits” this week, and they’ll each get three chances to impress the Idols judges and, more importantly, the voters, one more time.

In the Producers’ Favourite Performance of the Season round Brenden will revisit Nigerian singer-songwriter Asa’s Jailer from the Top 5 Spectacular, and Musa is singing the Ringo Madlingozi hit Ndiyagodola from the Top 9 show.

For their own favourite performances of the competition Musa selected Marvin Gaye’s Sexual Healing from the Top 10 Spectacular when they sang “Cheesy Songs”, and Brenden takes it all the way back to the Top 18: Guys show, when he first performed Rihanna’s Stay

And then, the Big Moment when the Top 2 get to perform their brand new singles for the first time! Brenden’s song, which will be released as his first single if he should win the competition, is called Fingerprints, and for Musa it’s a song called I Still Feel It

The voting lines for the Top 2 have already opened, and will stay open until Monday, 25 November at 22:00.

The exciting live Finalé Spectacular will be broadcast on M-Net and Mzansi Magic and will boast performances by the likes of AKA, The Parlotones, ChianoSky, MiCasa, Khuli Chana, and of course the Top 2 finalists!

Tune in on Sunday and on Tuesday at 5.30pm and 7.30pm, respectively, on M-Net and Mzansi Magic.

Who will win Idols 2013?

Musa  VS Brenden

It's now really down to the wire- who will it be between Mpumalanga's Musa and Brenden? After the shock elimination of front runner, Sonke, it's now between the two talented, yet so different guys from Mpumalanga. Either way the Mpumalanga province will celebrate they finally have an Idol.

Musa has been the most surprising Idols act this season. Not only have his song choices been surprising, but his voice just kept getting better as the season progresses. He has charisma and together with Sonke, they have been the one's who have shown immense growth in the competition.
But what has given Musa the edge over the other contestants (besides Sonke) is that he wasn't afraid to tackle South African songs. And maybe this is why he should win. He paid tribute to local musicians and reminded the audience that this is South African Idols and not American Idol. He should win for that alone.

Here's our favourite performance by Musa singing a local song:

Brenden has been rather touch 'n go. He peaked very early, having an awesome audition, doing well in Sun City. Then came the Top 10 and he just fizzled out. Soon Sonke, Musa, Bunny and even Zoe were starting to upstage him. We all wondered what had happened to the golden boy, the one who was the one to watch this season?
But he soon got back and starting picking great songs and actually performing them really well.
He's done really well in pop songs- hell, he's the full package when it comes to being a Pop Idol, unlike Musa who will make an unconventional pop star if he wins. Brenden is the complete package and will be very easy to market.
He can sing, even though he's not to everyone's taste. But he's talented. Not to mention his good looks (that got him the many fans in the first place).

We loved it when he performed Zahara's Lengoma but we also loved it when he performed Miguel's Do You last week. Here's the video of his performance

Here's Musa and Brenden singing Same Girl by R Kelly and Usher during the Top4 week.

So who will it be? Well, we'll see on Sunday and also on the finale on Tuesday who will get top honours and join the list as South Africa's next Idol.

Tune in on Sunday on M-Net and Mzansi Magic at 5.30pm and on Tuesday, same channels, at 7.30pm for the live results and finale show.

Mbongeni Ngema Talks Zulu TV

Playwright, actor and musician, Mbongeni Ngema, announced a few months ago that his TV channel, ZuluTV, will be launched early next year.

In an interview that we had with him, he revealed that he's always wanted to have a TV channel, but he never realised just how much work needs to go into it.

How's it going with the Zulu TV preparations?
It's a hell of a lot of work. (Laughs, while scratching his head). Putting on a stage production is difficult. Preparing for a whole TV channel is even more difficult. Like 10 000 times difficult. But then I have a dedicated team that I'm working closely with and I know we'll make it.
What makes it so daunting?
It's making sure the channel is ready to go on air on time. That's very important to us and we don't want to have to postpone. Also the issue about content. We need to have content that will fill 24 hours on the channel.
Why was it important for you to have a TV channel?
I've been in that position where I've wished to have my own TV channel. I guess I've always aspired to have one, so now it's happening. Another thing is that few black people in the world have their own TV channels. I think Oprah Winfrey is the only one. I thought that needs to change.
Is Zulu TV going to be broadcast in IsiZulu only?
Oh no. The plan is for the channel to be broadcast all over Sub-Saharan Africa and even in the northern African countries. While there will be an IsiZulu bias, we will have content in KiSwahili, English, several of the Nguni languages (Xhosa, Ndebele, SiSwati). We are trying to see if we can get TshiVenda and SesSotho content too. But there will be no Afrikaans programmes on the channel.
Is there a particular reason why?
There already is an Afrikaans channel- kyknet on DStv and ASTV on TopTV (StarSat)
You held auditions for presenters, actors and voice over artists this past weekend. How did it go?
I hear it went really well. I wasn't present as I'm a busy man and I'm preparing for the Durban leg of The Zulu. But I heard that we had close to 5000 people here trying their luck and I'm sure we'll find many talented people who will be great assets to Zulu TV.
When should we expect Zulu TV on air?
The date is 22 January 2013 and we start shooting shows in December 2013.
What kind of shows can we expect on the channel?
There will be music programmes, coverage of heritage, tourism, arts and culture. There will be programmes about lifestyle, magazines programmes, and naturally, musical theatre, drama, sitcoms, movies, short films, documentaries, religion and current affairs. Social networks will also feature very strongly.

The Top Three

It's really coming down to the wire. Who will be crowned the next South African Idol?

When Zoe left on Tuesday (poor Bunny), it was obvious that the winner will be male. Arguably the strongest three singers throughout the season, Musa, Sonke and Brenden have consistently wowed us with their performances- some more than the other, but we were still impressed. Even though we feel that Bunny should also be here had the judges used their save, this would've been a very different top 3/4.

One thing that gave Zoe an extra edge over the guys was that she chose contemporary pop music, music that we listen to on the radio. She was one amazing performer and you were left with one thing after her performances: She's a star.

Now do the guys have star power? Well, not really. Brenden is the full package- looks good, trendy, great voice- but there's still a lot of work to be done.
Sonke also doesn't have that star power that will draw people in. The same with Musa. But these can be worked on. Who knows, soon they'll be headlining their own shows.

Anyway here's what the guys will be singing this Sunday.

The top 3 contestants get to perform three songs each: one chosen for each of them by the Idols judges, one by Idols Musical Director RJ Benjamin, and one song of their own choosing.

  • Beauty and a Beat by Justin Bieber (Judges' Choice)
  • Locked Out of Heaven by Bruno Mars (RJ's choice)
  • Do You by Miguel (Brenden's Choice)

All very different songs that should showcase how versatile he can be; from slapstick Bieber, to fun and retro Bruno Mars and crooner, Miguel. We approve.

  • Meropa by The Mahotella Queens (Oskido and BOP remix)
  • Love by Musiq Soulchild
  • Inkomo by The Soil

Not contemporary, but these songs are suited to Musa. Very surprising that the judges chose Meropa. But this should be great.

  • Turn Me On by David Guetta feat. Nicki Minaj
  • Rhythm of the Night by DeBarge
  • Burn Out by Sipho Hotstix Mabuse

See, Sonke knows that the judges were going to pick something very pop and EDM and I'm not surprised by his choice of Burn Out. Gotta appeal to the old folks yo!

Who will impress? Well it's all going to depend on how well they perform. These are all great choices and will appeal to the whole audience. Now for them to show up and blow us away. This show is now clearly for the ladies to swoon over. But then swooning is pointless if you don't vote!

May the best man win!

Idols SA is a co-production between M-Net and Mzansi Magic and comes your way twice a week: on Sundays at 17:30 and Tuesdays at 19:30.

e.TV to air the 2013 Victoria's Secret Fashion Show

African Angels at the 2013 Victoria's Secret Fashion Show
Behati Prinsloo, Candice Swanepoel and Maria Borges
Good news fans of Victoria's Secret- e.tv has confirmed that they will be airing the show yet again in December.

This morning, we received a tweet from one of our readers and followers who asked whether the show will be seen in South Africa soon. We tweeted e.tv and they replied almost immediately.
CBS will broadcast the show on 10 December 2013 and if they follow last year's model, where they broadcasted the show on the 14th December, 10 days after the show had aired on CBS. So we should expect it before Christmas and also on New Years Eve.

But for those who want it closer to the US date, tune into FTV on DStv and StarSat. They'll have the show on earlier than e.tv, as has been the case for the past three years.

But here's highlights from the show, which took place last night

Scandal's new actors

Howza Mosese, Peter Muruakgomo, Mothusi Magano
and Jerry Mofokeng have joined the cast of e.tv's

Is it us or is Scandal adding more actors to the show every month? Fiona Ramsay joined the cast in what seems like a month ago and now they are adding four. But that being said, one has to give props to them for always looking for the right talent- the talented, almost underrated actors that South Africa has to offer.

e.tv announced via a statement earlier this week that Howza Mosese (Generations, Backstage, Big Up, All You Need is Love, Bar One Man Hunt); Peter Moruakgomo (Ace in Generations), the amazing Mothusi Magano (Tsotsi, 90 Plein Street, The Lab) and the legendary Jerry Mofokeng (seriously? do you want us to name his shows?) have joined the soapie, which airs weekdays at 7.30pm.

Here are their characters and what they'll be doing

Howza- He debuts tonight on the soapie and will play the role of Lerumo Chabedi, a bodyguard for an NFH/Secrets employee, Anzani. Lerumo is actually a policeman, an honest professional cop, proud but also a loner. He has no close friendships and he is damaged; hurt by his past and heritage.

Peter- Also debuting tonight, Peter plays Obakeng Rangaka, a senior salesman for a successful cleaning product company in Johannesburg. Obakeng is a divorcee who lives alone in Soweto. He comes to NFH to sell his products and soon finds love.

Jerry- Bra Jerry plays businessman, Neo Mokhethi a crime lord in Gauteng. He has his fingers in many pies - drugs, money laundering, extortion etc. He was the fabled kingpin set up in previous stories with lieutenants like Shakes and Jafta. Even Daniel worked for him and still owes him. But the net was closed and Neo was arrested and is currently awaiting trial. However, he has many people working for him and will give him what he wants even though he is behind prison bars. Neo is ruthless in his underworld dealings, but presents himself to the world as a refined businessman - calm, reasonable and a man of distinction. Jerry debuts on the show on Tuesday, 19 November.

Mothusi- Mothusi starts appearing on the show next Friday, 22 November, and will star as an assassin, The Dustbin Man. He is a mysterious assassin who has connections to Neo. He is so called because he has a reputation for taking out Neo’s rubbish so that Neo never has to get his hands dirty. He is the ultimate professional and ruthless in his efficiency. He has become something of an urban legend in the underworld; his name mentioned in whispers and evoking fear in those who may be his targets.

It's good characters and with great actors fronting them, Scandal could be on fire. Finally there's someone to take Daniel on.

Side Note: Can the writers write a good storyline for Masechaba? Thanks

New Show to watch Tonight: Loitering in Jozi

Marc Lottering gets ready to loiter in Loitering in Jozi
Marc Lottering's new comedy show, Loitering in Jozi, airs tonight on SABC 3. Starring Marc, as Marc (of course) a penniless artist who moves from Cape Town to Johannesburg, for greener pastures in the entertainment industry. But he becomes a victim of mistaken identity and so starts the drama. Luckily for him, he bumps into an old college roommate, who turns out to be a trust fund baby living in the most exclusive address in Sandton. Turns out he has a spare room for Marc and he takes him in. And so starts the comedy.

Loitering in Jozi is a dramedy at best. It's certain to poke fun at some of Sandton's elite- the phony ladies who lunch, the pretentious old money and the flashy nouveau riche.

Here's the cast list:

Marc Lottering- Marc Lottering
Antony Coleman (High Rollers)- Alfie, the trust fund baby
Tessa Juber- Lauren
Mamello Mokoena- Kabelo
Mervelline Ferris- the Concierge.

In The TV Snitch of the 10 November edition of the Sunday Tribune, I wrote: "I’m all for new local shows. It’s always great- but will it be funny? Marc’s humour is an acquired taste. I hope it will be funny. There really haven’t been funny comedy shows in SA since Askies, The Coconuts and City Ses’la."

I'm still asking the same question. It's sad that TV writers and critics are never given screeners before the show premieres. We have to watch it as the same time as the rest of the TV audience, which isn't a great thing because we can't do reviews beforehand, we can't do stories about the show in the week that they premiere. Surely it can't be that hard to send us  a DVD of the pilot episode?

Anyway, we are still going to tune in and we hope that it's actually good. Rasdien actually disappointed, and we don't want to feel the same about Loitering in Jozi.

Tune in on SABC 3 at 8pm, Thursdays.
