South Africa’s first democratically elected president, Nelson Rolihlahla Mandela, has passed on. According to the announcement by President Jacob Zuma, Mandela passed on 05 December 2013 at 8.50pm. His death was announced a few minutes before midnight on the 06th December 2013. He was 95.
Right now, all local TV and international channels are airing documentaries they had collated before his death. Various presidents and other dignitaries have paid their respects to Mandela. President's Zuma, Mbeki, Obama, Prime Minister Cameron, UN Secretary General, Ban Ki-Moon and more leaders have taken to the airwaves to pay tribute to the great man. All flags will be on half mast from today.
TV channels have not yet given us schedules on the specials, documentaries, movies and others shows to be aired on their channels. We will be updating as soon as we get the information.
He will be given a state funeral and details on the airing of the funeral, the memorial services and more, will be announced soon.
