Well, we don't know. It's two days before the first Royalty Soapie Awards, who were founded by Generations actress, Winnie Modise, and while we know who the nominees and hosts are, we still don't know who will be performing, be presenting awards and who has made the cut for the guest list. We all want to know if it will be a sit down dinner affair, like the Golden Globes or will it be like the Metro's and the South African Music Awards.
This lack of information is a pity because we want the awards to be a success. That they will not be aired live on SABC 1 on Saturday, is disappointing, but then it's understandable since they are a new programme and sometimes going live on the first time the awards are held is a big mistake.
The awards will be broadcast on SABC 1 on Sunday at 8.30pm. It will be a 72 minute package, which will include a red carpet segment.

Speaking of the red carpet, we still have no idea who will be conducting the red carpet interviews with some of South Africa's biggest stars. The soapie format is the most popular form of storytelling, which therefore means that nearly all the big TV stars will be present. Except, of course, for e.TV actors. Their shows were pulled from contention by e.TV (who are notoriously fussy about everything having done the same with the SAFTA's a few years ago.)
Michael Mol and Hlomla Dandala will be hosting the awards, taking place at the ICC. That's the only information we have and even with us trying to get more details, especially performers and presenters, there's been little to no feedback. It's concerning how things are always so secretive when it comes to SA awards ceremonies. You would swear it is a matter of national security. We simply just need to inform our readers what to expect. It's not like we will have the whole programme.
With that being said, we look forward to the awards and we will be live tweeting from the venue on @SMtv_guide and @Buhlebonga. Also, you can read about those who were present and the winners, on the Sunday Tribune this Sunday.
