What's Happening?

Confirmed: Andile Ncube to host @Official_SABC1's @The_XFactorSA #XFactorSA

Over the past couple of weeks, we have been writing about SABC 1's The X-Factor South Africa. There has literally been NO information about the show, except for rumours from various sources, which we treated as such, rumours.

Initially our source told us that MTV Base VJ, Nomuzi Mabena was going to be co-hosting the show with former Rhythm City actor, Lungile Radu. That seemed far fetched, but then if Bonang Matheba can present a show on  SABC 3 and also host a show on Mzansi Magic, what could stop Nomuzi and Lungile from jumping ship? Besides, SABC 1 is a star maker, so it's entirely possible. Also with Lungile being replaced by Pallance Dladla on Rhythm City pointed to him being possibly considered for the role of X-factor host.

So, as it turned out on Tuesday, our source got it wrong. Former Live and current SABC Sport presenter, Andile Ncube, is the host of the show. It was confirmed today in an exclusive interview with Metro FM and our sister paper, Tonight.

SMtv has an interview with him at the auditions on Saturday.

And what a brilliant choice! Andile started on a music show, where he interviewed some of SA's, Africa's and even the world's biggest stars. While he was on the show, Live was a real success- popular, well produced, influential and enjoyable. His time co-hosting with Bonang was one of the best seasons of the show. He surprised many when he moved to sport, but he quickly showed that he was the rare Jack of All Trades and Master of All.

On his new presenting gig, Andile said, via press release: “I will be guiding both contestants and viewers through all of the ups and downs of this thrilling show. I will be offering contestants support and encouragement along the way – from their first auditions in front of the judges through to the nail-biting live shows. Of course, I will also try and keep the judges in check!”

We are looking forward to the show and with information finally being released, bit-by-bit, we sure hope that the rumours of the judges would either be confirmed or have cold water poured on them.
