It was the annual Monte Carlo TV Festival this past week and the festival ended with an awards ceremony- the 54th annual Golden Nymph Awards.
The festival was created in 1961 by Prince Rainier III of Monaco, because he "wished to encourage a new art form, in the service of peace and understanding between men."
Of course the project, like the Cannes Film Festival, generated worldwide interest and over the years, with many distinguished celebrities have sat on the successive juries, bringing international recognition to the best of television programming.
To go hand in hand with the awards, the Golden Nymph Awards were created. This is where all the 'best' TV shows are awarded. Shows with the highest number of viewers around the world, are also awarded.
Top of the Lake swept the boards, winning all three awards in the Miniseries category
