What's Happening?

New TV Shows for 2014/15: The CW

It's soon going to be the start of the new TV season and besides our favourite shows making a return, there are a bunch of new shows that we can look forward to.

While some may only come weeks, months or even years later, to local TV screens, we still can look forward to these shows. After all we can't deny that some people are able to stream these shows.

Anyway we start with The CW and what shows we can expect from them this year

The Show: iZombie
The Stars: Rose McIver, Robert Buckley, Malcolm Goodwin, Alex Krosney, David Anders, Nora Dunn, Rahul Kohli
The Production Team: Rob Thomas, Diane Ruggiero, Danielle Stokdyk, Dan Etheridge
Premise: The supernatural crime procedural, based on the DC Comics title, centers on a medical student-turned-zombie who takes a job in the coroner's office in order to gain access to the brains she must reluctantly eat so she can maintain her humanity. However, with every brain she eats, she inherits the corpse's memories. With the help of her medical examiner boss and a police detective, she solves homicide cases in order to quiet the disturbing voices in her head.

The Show: Jane the Virgin
The Stars: Gina Rodriguez, Jaime Camil, Yael Grobglas, Brett Dier, Andrea Navedo, Justin Baldoni, Ivonne Coll, Ryan Devlin
The Production Team: Jennie Snyder Urman, Ben Silverman, Gary Pearl, Jorge Granier, Brad Silberling
Premise: Based on the Venezuelan telenovla, the story centers on a hard-working, religious, young Latina woman who is accidentally artificially inseminated following a series of surprising and unforeseen events.

The Show: The Flash
The Stars: Grant Gustin, Jesse L. Martin, Tom Cavanagh, Candice Patton, Rick Gosnett, Danielle Panabaker, Carlos Valdes, John Wesley Shipp, Michelle Harrison, Patrick Sabongui
The Production Team: Greg Berlanti, Andrew Kreisberg, Geoff Johns, David Nutter, Melissa Kellner Berman
Premise: An origin story of the DC Comics character of scientist Barry Allen, who through a freak accident, is given the power of super speed that transforms him into the Fastest Man Alive.

The Show: The Messengers
The Stars: Shantel VanSanten, Sofia Black-D'Elia, Joel Courtney, Jon Fletcher, Diogo Morgado, Craig Frank, Lane Garrison
The Production Team: Eoghan O'Donnell, Basil Iwanyk, Kent Kubena, Ava Jamshidi, Stephen Williams
Premise: When a mysterious object crashes down to Earth, a group of seemingly unconnected strangers die from the energy pulse, but then awaken to learn that they have been deemed responsible for preventing the impending apocalypse.

Verdict: Well, The CW mostly gets it wrong, but they have had success with The Vampire Diaries, Arrow and The Originals. The Flash is bound to be a hit- if produced and written well. I guess we'll have to wait and see after the first three weeks and only then will we have a proper opinion about the new shows.
